Join the Red Line Parkway Initiative for Celebrate Trails Day on Saturday, April 22nd at Crestview Station. We will be leading a bicycle ride from Crestview to downtown after enjoying refreshments and fun activities on the trail for the whole family.

Register for the ride on Eventbrite.

Since it’s Earth Day, we will kick off at 9:30am by inviting our community to decorate the Parkway with environmental chalk art. How do trails connect you with nature? Where can you go on a bike instead of a car using a trail? What wild critters do we share trails with? We’ll have refreshments, games, and lots of chalk—you just bring your imagination!

We will also be joined by Urban Arrow, a Dutch electric cargo bike company, that will have an electric cargo bike for families to test out. Cargo bikes are a great way for families to meet everyday needs with one fewer car!

At 10am, we will circle up to ride the Red Line Parkway to downtown, with stops along the way to learn more about the Parkway. Wheels down at 10:15am. After arriving at Downtown Station, participants will have the option to ride bikes or take the train back to Crestview Station, or head elsewhere on their own.

The Rails-to-Trails Conservancy helps promote this annual celebration of America’s trails every spring, and we are thrilled to get folks out to get outside and enjoy the Red Line Parkway!

Thanks to our event sponsors, Electric Avenue and People for Bikes.

The Red Line Parkway is a 32+ mile linear park and trail planned to run from Downtown Austin to Cedar Park to Leander along the Capital Metro Red Line. Parts of the trail, such as the section between Highland Station and Crestview Station, have already been built. When it’s complete, the Parkway will be the backbone of a metro-wide system of trails bringing health, environmental, social and economic benefits to all residents.
